Make the Cut

Who I Am

Hi, I’m Terra, this is my first blog ever. I grew up in a movie-going family–it’s just something we always did together, so I spent a lot of my childhood in the dark of independent theaters.  Why wasn’t I tanning in the California sun instead? Let’s just say it’s a genetic impossibility, but I do have many fond memories of basking in the glow of the projection screen, escaping to places all over the world, and having vicarious adventures.  That was likely my first taste of adventure, which has since inspired me to circle the globe with the hopes of creating some of my own exciting adventures.

When I was too young to remember, I’m told I would always answer the obligatory “what do you want to be when you grow up?” question with a simple response: “I want to live in New York,” and as soon as I graduated from college, I jumped in a car and drove here. Originally a film major in college, I abandoned the ambition to work on screenplays during my undergrad and began to pursue my other favorite means of escape–books. I now live in New York, an adventure all its own, and am currently working in the book publishing industry and pursuing a Master’s in Publishing degree at NYU. I am still, and will always be, passionately in love with movies. A good movie really is one of the best things to share, and criticizing a terrible movie is a sort of a fun of its own.

Terra, This blog is a terrific idea. You might consider going into the archives and pulling up an old 8mm film starring your father, “When Pigs Fly.” This is an imaginative little film and, in view of the technology 40 years ago and the age of its producers, quite a piece. Hang on, stay out of the caves and in the thick of things, and this site of yours will take off like gangbusters (an old term drawn from a radio-days serial featuring good guys bringing crooks to justice).
